I have been converting AVI's happily for a while now so I now the basics, but all of a sudden when I tell TMPGenc the file I want to convert, it is coming up at 300 minuites long even though the film is only 90 - 120 minutes long, this then creates a 4 gig file and normally bums out before it has finished.

    Baffled/Confused/P%$%%* off.

If you search about this question's been answered a few times, but I'm not innocent of such stuff so bleh

There's a bug in the program regarding sorting out the lengths of films with vbr audio - go into the filters page, choose 'source range', and simply set the start and end frames to the start and end of the film. the length will be exactly the same as it is in the source film but you take out the malfunctioning step of the program trying to guage the length for itself.

Kaiboshed me a few times at first, too

  3. I heard that there is a version of TMPGEnc that has a problem with its reporting of file size. (Version 2.58 I think.) Maybe try a search for "TMPGEnc file size problem" I have read others complaining of the same problem and their solution was to install an older version of TMPG.

  4. If it has got VBR audio you need to save it as uncompressed PCM wav file or your audio will be out of sync when you encode. Follow this guide.
